Xiaomi has officially confirmed its next flagship lineup – and it’s not the Xiaomi 16 series as many expected. Instead, the company is jumping straight to the Xiaomi 17 series, making it the first smartphone brand to launch devices powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

The announcement came from Xiaomi China, which revealed that the series will include three models – the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and the top-end Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Interestingly, the company admitted that part of the decision to rebrand the lineup was to align directly against Apple’s iPhone 17 series.

Xiaomi 17 Series Pricing and Models

Xiaomi has confirmed that the vanilla Xiaomi 17 will not see a price hike, starting at CNY 4,499 (approx. Rs 52,000) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The Xiaomi 17 Pro will target users who prefer a compact flagship experience, while the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is being marketed as the company’s “most powerful flagship ever”, particularly in terms of imaging and high-end technology.

Xiaomi 17 Series Specifications

According to leaks, the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro will feature 6.3-inch OLED 2K displays with ultra-thin bezels, while the Pro Max could push screen size to 6.8 inches. The regular Xiaomi 17 is rumoured to pack a 7,000mAh battery, while the compact 17 Pro could carry a 6,300mAh unit. The top-end 17 Pro Max might even push things further with a massive 7,500mAh battery. All three are said to support both fast and wireless charging, so keeping them powered up shouldn’t be an issue.

When it comes to cameras, the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to step things up with a triple 50MP setup. This includes a SmartSens 590 main sensor, a wide-angle lens, and a periscope telephoto that can also handle macro shots. On the front, every model in the lineup is rumoured to feature a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus.
