Xiaomi has officially launched its flagship lineup – including the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max – in China. Both smartphones arrive alongside the standard Xiaomi 17, but it’s the Pro models that are grabbing attention with their bold design choices and powerful hardware. Packed with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, Android 16-based HyperOS 3, and Leica-branded cameras, the new devices are clearly positioned to take on other premium flagships in 2025. The Pro Max gets a larger 6.9-inch display with 2K resolution and Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass protection, while the Pro features a more compact 6.3-inch screen. Both phones are accompanied by a secondary M10 display on the back with up to 3,500 nits brightness. This extra screen isn’t just for show – it can be used to create AI portraits, display reminders through the new “Post-it Notes” feature, preview photos, and even serve as a gaming interface with a supported case.
Under the hood, both devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, Qualcomm’s new 3nm flagship chip. Buyers can choose configurations of up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. On the software front, the phones ship with HyperOS 3, which introduces a new HyperIsland feature inspired by Apple’s Dynamic Island.
As expected from Xiaomi’s collaboration with Leica, the camera setup is another highlight. Both the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max feature a triple 50MP setup – a Light Hunter 950L primary sensor, an ultrawide camera, and a periscope telephoto lens offering 5x optical zoom. Selfies and video calls are handled by a 50MP front camera.
Battery life also looks solid, with the Pro Max housing a 7,500mAh cell and the Pro carrying a 6,300mAh battery. Both support 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
