Redmi may launch a new phone in India called the Redmi 12C next month. The Redmi 12C was launched in China last week, so we are familiar with its specifications. A new report suggests that Redmi may launch the Redmi 12C in India with the same design and specifications as the model available in China. This is a low-cost phone, and if we go by the report, the price in India is expected to be under Rs 15,000.
According to 91Mobiles, the Redmi 12C is expected to arrive in India before its international launch during the Mobile World Congress 2023. Interestingly, another leak by a tipster who goes by Kacper Skrzypek suggests that the Redmi 12C could launch internationally as Poco C55. 91Mobiles has corroborated the leak, but it has also suggested that India will get both Redmi 12C and Poco C55. The launch of the latter, however, may take place after the launch of the Poco X5 Pro.
The Redmi 12C comes with a 6.71-inch display with an HD+ resolution. Since it is a low-cost phone, it does not feature a high refresh rate of 90Hz. The phone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It comes with support for dual SIM cards and 4G connectivity. It runs Android 12-based MIUI 13.
On the back of the Redmi 12C, there is a 50-megapixel main camera but on the front, there is a 5-megapixel camera. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery but without support for fast charging, which makes sense since it is a low-end phone. The Redmi 12C also comes with support for a microSD card of up to 512GB. The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
For now, we have an idea that the Redmi 12C may arrive in India next month, but there is no clarity on the timeline of the launch.
