While Apple’s iPhone 14 series has been out for several months, the rumor mill is all about what’s coming next from the Cupertino giant, i.e. the iPhone 15 series.
A handful of leaks in the past have revealed a few details about the next-generation iPhones including the exclusivity of a periscope camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or Ultra, depending on what Apple plans to call it).
Now, as per Ming-Chi Kuo, the 2024 iPhone 16 Pro Max/Ultra will again be the only model in the series to have a periscope lens, despite reports suggesting the periscope lens to be on both the Pro models.
There was a rumor that since the 2023-due iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra will get the periscope lens, it may transition to more iPhones later in 2024. That said, Apple was expected to bring a periscope lens on both iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max/Ultra.

Only one/the highest-end model of the new 2H24 iPhone 16 series may have a periscope camera, not the two models of market expectation. It's detrimental to Largan and Genius since the demand for lens upgrades will fall below expectations.— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) January 31, 2023
However, Kuo has now revealed that just as this year, next year as well, only the highest-end model, likely the iPhone 16 Pro Max/Ultra will get a periscope camera. So, the iPhone 16 Pro will likely have a regular telephoto lens.
Furthermore, Kuo had predicted that the suppliers for this year’s periscope lens for the iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra will be Largan and Genius and not Samsung.
These brands were seemingly expecting an increase in the production of periscope lenses next year. However, the demand for more units of periscope lenses will likely stay the same and fall below their expectations next year, as per Kuo
While iPhone 16’s release is still far away, the iPhone 15’s launch is only 7-8 months ahead. This year, the new iPhones may have a few major changes.
Starting with the ports, iPhone 15 lineup will have a USB Type-C port. The iPhone 15 Pros are expected to have a rounded body, Apple’s A17 Bionic chip, and a few camera improvements.
