Apple may soon increase the price of the iPhone 17 in India, based on a new leak. The phone was launched in September with upgraded hardware and a bump to 256GB base storage, which had already pushed the price up by about Rs 3,000 compared to the iPhone 16. Now, a tipster suggests that Apple could raise the price of all iPhone 17 variants in the country, mainly due to rising demand and limited stock. news Also Read: iPhone Air Becomes More Affordable With Up To Rs 13,000 Off In Black Friday Sale

iPhone 17 Price Hike Expected

The iPhone 17 currently starts at Rs 82,900 for the 256GB base variant, while the 512GB model is priced at Rs 1,02,900. Tipster Yogesh Brar claims that Apple may increase the price of both storage options by up to Rs 7,000. If this happens, the updated pricing would come to Rs 89,900 for 256GB and Rs 1,09,900 for 512GB – matching the price tags of last year’s iPhone 16 with the same storage. news Also Read: Why Smartphone Makers Are Suddenly Backing Away From Super-Thin Designs

The tipster also suggests that Apple may offer select bank offers or cashback options to offset some of the cost for buyers once the revised pricing goes into effect. news Also Read: Last-Chance Black Friday Laptop Deal: MacBook Air M4 Price Crashes By Rs 13,910 On Croma

Why the Price Increase?

The possible hike is reportedly linked to low stock and higher-than-expected demand. Retailers in India are said to be running short on iPhone 17 units, and Apple is struggling to keep up with the current pace of sales.

Another reason being pointed out is the sharp rise in memory component prices. DRAM and other smartphone memory chips have become significantly more expensive in recent weeks, with costs rising anywhere between 20 and 50 percent. Samsung, one of the biggest suppliers, has also increased its memory chip pricing by up to 60 percent. As a result, brands launching new flagship devices this year have been forced to raise prices across the board.

Recent examples include the OnePlus 15, which launched in India at Rs 72,999, up from the OnePlus 13’s Rs 69,999. The iQOO 15 also arrived with a much wider gap compared to its predecessor – jumping from Rs 54,999 to Rs 72,999 for the base model.

If Apple proceeds with the revision, the iPhone 17 could be the next flagship to reflect the industry-wide rise in component costs and supply constraints.
