Apple has released the second developer beta of iOS 26.2, adding a handful of practical updates for iPhone users. The new beta brings small design changes, new customization options, and improvements to Apple’s alert system. It’s currently available for developers, while the public beta is expected to roll out later this week. Also Read: Apple M5 Mac mini And Mac Studio Tipped To Launch By Mid-2026, Gurman Reports
The Measure app has received a minor design change in iOS 26.2. The Level feature now sports Apple’s new Liquid Glass design, replacing the traditional white circles with transparent “glass-like” bubbles. Also Read: Apple’s iPhone Air 2 Could Skip 2026 Launch; Here's Why
Apple has introduced a new sorting feature in the Games app Library. You can now arrange your games by file size, alongside the existing Name and Recent options. It’s a small addition, but it’ll help users manage storage more easily and clear out bigger titles when needed. In this beta, CarPlay introduces a new toggle that lets users disable pinned messages within the Messages app while using the car interface. Meanwhile, pop-out menu animations have been slightly refined. Menus that expand from a corner button now use a quicker, bounce-style animation similar to what Apple demonstrated at WWDC earlier this year.
Apple has shared more details about the new Enhanced Safety Alerts added in the first beta. The feature sends notifications about emergencies such as earthquakes, floods, or other regional warnings. These alerts work over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or mobile data, even if government alerts are turned off.
By default, Enhanced Safety Alerts are switched on. You can adjust them anytime by heading to Settings > Notifications > Enhanced Alerts. There’s also an “Improve Alert Delivery” option that uses approximate location data to ensure alerts are sent faster and more reliably. Apple clarified that it does not store users’ exact location data.
Other new features include a Liquid Glass slider for the Lock Screen and Live Translation support for AirPods in the European Union.
Apple is expected to release the stable iOS 26.2 update sometime in December, likely between December 9 and December 16.
