For a long time, the iPhone’s status bar had a limited number of icons and indicators. Unlike Android, iOS’s status bar is not cluttered, but even though it is neat, it has omitted some necessary tools. One of them is the battery level indicator, which tells how much percentage your iPhone’s battery has left in it. The battery level indicator was once a part of the status bar, but after Apple revamped the look of the iPhone software with iOS 12, it shifted to a less visible space. The battery level would show up only when you bring the Control Centre down. That changed with iOS 16, which allowed iPhone users to bring the battery percentage to the status bar.
Nearly all recent iPhone models support the battery level indicator on the status bar, thanks to the latest iOS 17 software. Even the iPhone models stuck on iOS 16, such as the iPhone X, offer the functionality. If you want to make checking the battery percentage easier on your iPhone, here are the steps you need to follow.
1. Go to battery settings: If you see a gear icon on your iPhone, that is the Settings app. Tap to open it. Once inside Settings, you’ll see a list of options. Scroll down until you find “Battery.” Tap on “Battery” to open its settings.
2. Toggle the setting on: Inside the Battery settings, you will see options related to battery life and usage. Look for a setting labelled “Battery Percentage” or an option with a battery icon next to it. There will likely be a switch beside this label. By default, it might be off (grey). To turn on the battery percentage, tap the switch. It should turn green or another color indicating it’s active.
3. Battery percentage is visible: This will display the battery percentage inside the battery icon in the status bar at the top of your screen: The status bar is the thin bar at the very top of your iPhone screen. It usually shows the time and signal strength. Once you enable “Battery Percentage,” a number will appear inside the battery icon in the status bar. This number represents the remaining percentage of your battery charge.
