If you are not getting the desired battery life on your iPhone, it’s probably time you need to change your battery due to low battery health. But how can you know what’s your battery health? In this article, we will show exactly how you can check your iPhone’s battery health and know if your battery really needs to be replaced.

How to check your iPhone battery health?

Step 1: Open Settings on your iPhone.

Step 2: Tap on the Battery icon.

Step 3: Tap on the Battery Health option and you should see your iPhone’s battery health.

When to replace your battery?

Now, if your battery health is below 80 percent of the original capacity, then it’s time to replace it. If it’s anything around 90, you can still replace it if you want battery life like day 1. But it’s not recommended by Apple. However, below 80 percent you may witness a sudden drain. That’s when you can think of getting a new battery.

Apple officially says that iPhone 14 and below models can retain up to 80 percent of the original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles when opening in normal conditions. That limit was improved to 1000 complete charge cycles for iPhone 15. In newer iPhones, you can also check your charge cycles. Here’s how.

– In the Battery settings, tap on Battery Health and you should see the Cycle Count.

While Apple recommends you change your iPhone battery when it’s around 80 percent, it’s not necessary to do so.  Even if your battery is around 75 percent, you can still choose to not replace it.

How to keep your iPhone’s battery healthy?

Replacing the battery can be costly, especially for new iPhones. That said, you should follow some health methods to save your battery such as discharging your iPhone at 80 to 90 so it doesn’t complete a full cycle. Also, not letting your iPhone die at 0 percent, which if you allow it, is the worst thing for your phone. The best way to keep your battery health sustained in the long run is by keeping the battery percentage between 20 percent to 80 percent.
