Sony Interactive Entertainment has introduced a new app dubbed PlayStation Family, taking a big step toward safer gaming for children. The app is designed for both Android and iOS devices. The new Family app allows parents to monitor and manage their children’s gaming experience on PS5 and PS4 consoles.
Sony is rolling out the app globally starting today and providing a convenient way for families to stay connected and in control.
Sony has listed the guided onboarding process for the PlayStation Family app. Parents can easily create and configure the child accounts, ensuring that all necessary settings are applied correctly from the start.
Additionally, the app makes managing child accounts simple and helping parents oversees their child’s playtime, content, and interactions efficiently.
PlayStation Family app provides real-time notifications, which means parents can see what their children are currently playing. Also, they can approve or decline extra playtime requests and restrict access to certain games. They can perform all these tasks directly from their mobile deice.
Parents will also receive daily and weekly activity reports, giving them access to clearly overview their child’s playtime, activity, trends, and gaming habits.

Sony has also added a custom playtime limits for each day of the week in Family app. Children can request additional playtime, which parents can approve or decline remotely. The app also lets parents manage spending activity by adding funds, checking balances, and setting monthly spending caps for purchases from the PlayStation Store.
The PlayStation Family app allows parents to apply age-appropriate content filters with just a few taps. Preset configurations are available for different age groups, but every setting is fully customizable to suit each child’s needs. Parents can also control social interactions, managing how children connect with friends and participate in online features.
The PlayStation Family app is available for download from the Google Play Store and App Store in most regions. The company plans on enhancing the app over time and adding more features to improve parental control.
