IO Interactive revealed that the gameplay will showcase a young, 26-year-old Bond – before he officially earns his “00” status. In First Light, Bond begins as a daring Royal Navy air crewman before being recruited into MI6. The deep dive is set to showcase everything that makes Bond iconic – adrenaline-pumping car chases, nail-biting stealth missions, and explosive shootouts.
After the gameplay showcase, IO Interactive will also share behind-the-scenes details, giving players a better idea of how the game’s mechanics, design, and Bond’s new origin story came together.
While snippets of gameplay were shown during its reveal in June, this week’s State of Play will be the first extended showcase. IO Interactive has confirmed that 007 First Light is scheduled to release in 2026 on PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, though a precise launch date is still under wraps.
With breathtaking locations, clever gadgets, and a younger take on James Bond, 007 First Light is one espionage gaming to look forward to.
