GTA 6 PC version launch likely? Rockstar CEO gives subtle answer

GTA 6 is all the rage right now. While its first trailer dropped in December last year, the sixth instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise is set for release in 2025. The exact date is still unclear, but at least the launch is confirmed for consoles such as Xbox Series X, Series S, and PlayStation 5. But a good number of fans are anticipating a PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI. Developer Rockstar Games never said anything about whether or not GTA 6 is coming to PC. However, there is some hope.

The boss of Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar, recently gave a heavily-worded and mostly vague response to a question about GTA 6 for PC. But if you read between the lines, you will find a probable “yes.”

In an interview during the TD Cowen conference held earlier this week, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick hinted the launch could happen. Here is Zelnick’s full response, per a report by VGC:

Well, the lack of an announcement is not something that could be set in stone as near as I could tell, because the only thing that happens after the lack of an announcement is an announcement, I suppose, or a continuing lack of an announcement, I guess that could happen too. It doesn’t seem to me that either would be set in stone.

But Rockstar has an approach to platforms which we’ve seen before, and they will make more announcements in due time. I do believe that the right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and historically what this company has done is address consumers anywhere they are, on any platform that makes sense, over time.

While this corporate doublespeak does not clearly say anything, it does hint at the possibility of GTA 6 on PC. That could give enthusiasts who prefer playing titles on PC a glimmer of hope. And that is important because GTA fans are familiar with the studio’s reluctance to release games on PC in the past. The developers also have had a bittersweet relationship with the modding community. Since GTA 6 is expected to be a milestone in Rockstar’s journey, PC gamers are hopeful. Still, the launch is unlikely around the same time as PS and Xbox releases.
