Forza Horizon fans finally got the announcement they’ve been waiting for. Microsoft has officially revealed Forza Horizon 6 during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show broadcast, confirming that the next entry in the racing franchise will be set in Japan. The game is scheduled to launch in 2026, arriving first on PC and Xbox before making its way to PlayStation 5 sometime after launch. “This has been the most-requested location since the very first game,” Xbox exec Matt Booty said during the reveal. “The teams at Playground Games and Turn 10 have poured their hearts into Forza Horizon 6, bringing Japan to life like never before.” Also Read: PS Plus September 2025 Lineup Announced: Here’s Every Game You Can Play

Playground Games art director Don Arceta, along with cultural consultant Kyoko Yamashita, spoke with IGN ahead of the announcement. They revealed that Tokyo City will be one of the most intricate driving spaces the Horizon series has ever attempted, thanks to recent technical advancements. Elevated highways, neon-lit streets, and dense city layouts are expected to play a big role.
The game won’t only focus on urban areas. Players can also expect scenic drives through Japan’s rural landscapes, including the iconic Mount Fuji. Seasonal changes – a series staple – will also make a return. Arceta noted that lessons learned from Forza Horizon 5’s Hot Wheels DLC helped the team design the elevated road systems seen in Tokyo City.
The first teaser, posted early on Xbox’s Instagram, confirmed the 2026 release window with the caption, “The Horizon Festival is heading to Japan. Wishlist now!” The game will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title and launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
While the announcement doesn’t come as a huge surprise – Xbox boss Phil Spencer had already teased a new Forza entry for 2026 – the confirmation of Japan as the setting has sparked major excitement. Fans have long hoped the franchise would head east, and it looks like Forza Horizon 6 is finally delivering.
