OpenAI has launched GPT-5, calling it its “most powerful and capable AI model yet.” Announced by CEO Sam Altman on Friday, the latest version is available to everyone – even free users. This makes it one of the widest rollouts for the chatbot so far. ChatGPT 5 promises quicker replies, better reasoning skills, and stronger safety measures compared to ChatGPT 4. While GPT 4 had restricted access, GPT 5 is available for everyone from the first day. Everyone can access it through either Free, Plus, Pro, or Team subscriptions. Free accounts can access the new ChatGPT 5 model as a free trial with some restrictions; as a paid customer, Plus or Pro or Team, you should have higher limits and unlimited access. OpenAI wants to get more people to start using the new model with a free model. Also Read: UPI Meets ChatGPT: India Tests AI-Powered E-Commerce Payments Via OpenAI Partnership
You can access GPT 5 via the ChatGPT website or mobile apps on Android and iOS. Simply log into your current account to start using ChatGPT 5. It has three versions to use depending on your needs and performance on device settings – GPT 5, GPT 5-mini, and GPT 5-nano. Also Read: OpenAI Bans Multiple ChatGPT Accounts: Know The Whole Reason
OpenAI says GPT 5 gives more accurate and faster answers, with big upgrades in reasoning ability. One key improvement is a sharp drop in “hallucinations” – when the AI gives wrong or made-up information. It’s also trained to avoid guessing and will clearly tell you if it doesn’t have the answer.
A new “safe completions” feature helps the AI deal with sensitive topics more carefully. Sam Altman noted that GPT 5 is now an integrated model, meaning you no longer need to switch between versions – it decides when to put in extra effort for complex questions.
These improvements also boost tools like DALL·E 3 image generation and web browsing, making them more accurate and secure.
GPT 5 isn’t just for ChatGPT. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed it’s already built into Microsoft 365, Copilot, and Azure AI. It’s also being used in platforms like Canva, opening up more creative and business uses.
