Everyone has been talking about the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, and they have truly become the talk of the town. But now, it looks like Oakley might also be jumping on the bandwagon and launching AR glasses with their own take on it. Oakley and Meta just announced that the next evolution is coming on June 20th. Both brands have been teasing the upcoming release all over their social media channels, and Meta has even launched a special sign-up page
While the Ray-Ban Meta glasses are awesome for everyday style, the new Oakley Meta glasses are expected to be seriously geared toward athletes. Some leaks strongly suggest that these glasses would be based on the sleek and performance-driven Oakley Sphaera model. This means that Oakley might be building these for comfort, durability, and a secure fit for your workouts and sporty needs.
Talking more about features and looks, one of the most exciting rumoured changes is the camera placement. Instead of the side-mounted camera we saw on the Ray Ban glasses, these new Oakley glasses might feature a centrally positioned camera. This is a huge deal for cyclists, runners, and other athletes, as it’ll give you a much better, more stable, and more natural point of view for capturing all their epic adventures on the go.

Along with this, these glasses are expected to have all other features like integrated Meta AI capabilities for answering your queries, providing information about your surroundings, and generally being your smart assistant on the go. It could also have open-ear speakers for listening to music or podcasts while still being aware of your environment and the ability to take phone calls directly from your glasses. Moreover, it looks like Meta is trying to make smart glasses that could target a niche of athletes and adventurers, just like Apple did with their Apple Watch Ultra.
Since major internal hardware upgrades aren’t rumored, the Oakley Meta glasses are expected to launch at a similar price to the current Ray-Ban Meta Glasses. These new sporty glasses could launch around $299 (Rs 25,705). That is a little high, but considering that this tech is still in its really early stages, this is clearly for early adopters and tech enthusiasts.
Basically, it’s all the awesomeness of the AI-powered features from the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, but in a super sporty and athlete-focussed design.
