Meta has finally launched its ‘Imagine Me’ feature in India, giving you a fun new way to create AI-generated images of yourselves. With just a simple text prompt, you can see yourself in different styles or settings. It must be noted that the feature was earlier available in a few countries and is now live on Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and the Meta AI app in India.

It uses your facial data to place you into different scenarios, creating images that feel personal and creative. The results aren’t meant to look real, but they’re fun to play around with. If you are excited to try, here is how it works and how you can use it.

Meta Imagine Me Feature: How It Works

To use the feature, you’ll need to go through a quick setup in the Meta AI chat. Here’s how it works:

  • Open Meta AI chat on WhatsApp, Facebook, or Instagram.
  • Type “Imagine me as” followed by your chosen prompt (e.g. “a space explorer”).
  • Meta AI will ask you to upload three selfies — front, left profile, and right profile.
  • Once uploaded, you’ll get an AI-generated image showing you in the scenario you described.

You can continue to experiment with different prompts and generate more images. If you’re not happy with a result, you can edit, regenerate, or delete the image. The feature also lets you retake your selfies or disable it entirely at any time.

It must be noted that Meta ensures that this feature can only be used by the person setting it up, as it requires facial data. You can’t create AI avatars of someone else. All generated images come with a watermark that says “Imagined with AI” to make it clear they’re not real. Meta is also planning more visible labels for AI-generated content in the future.
