Google has recently launched a new feature within Gemini, dubbed Guided Learning, to reshape how we use AI for educational purposes. To recall, OpenAI rolled out its Study Mode for ChatGPT just a few weeks ago, which means Google’s strategy to bring a Learning platform for students just answers our questions about how tech companies are embedding AI into their systems and how they are competing with each other in bringing some or the other AI platforms.
Google’s Guided Learning model doesn’t work like traditional AI tools that just bombard users with quick answers. It majorly works like a platform that is more focused on helping users to develop a deeper understanding of the subject matter. The Guided Learning model works as a personal tutor rather than a search engine.
Google designed Guided Learning for students who want to engage in a meaningful conversation. So, rather than simply answering the questions, the model will ask follow-up and open-ended questions that help in encouraging critical thinking. Additionally, the system also helps in solving complex problems and offers a step-by-step explanation based on the user’s level of understanding. This also promotes long-term retention of knowledge.
Here are new @GeminiApp tools to help you learn, understand and study better this school year ✏️

Other than above mentioned features, one of the standout additions is the use of multimedia in the system. Guided Learning offers rich and interactive responses. These responses include videos, diagrams, images, and even quizzes. This approach not only helps learners to process information but also helps them in actively testing their knowledge.
Google collaborated with educators and researchers to build a Guided Learning platform. These partnerships led to the development of LearnLM, an AI model fine-tuned with educational research. This model powers Gemini’s learning experience and aims to make AI a responsible and helpful tool for learners of all ages.
Schools can also incorporate Guided Learning into the classroom. This can be shared via offering direct links to the class that can be shared through Google Classroom.
