A deepfake video of Elon Musk falsely promoting a 20 million dollar cryptocurrency giveaway is making rounds on the internet. The video showcases that a multimillion-dollar businessman is promoting cryptocurrency giveaways and promoting a website called Elon4u.com. The viral video of Elon Musk promoting cryptocurrency giveaway is getting viral on the internet. In the video Elon Musk says, “Here’s a surprise for everyone. I’ll be doing a $20 million crypto giveaway at Elon4u.com for one week starting on December 13.” He even reassures viewers by adding, “If I am serious? Yes, go to Elon4u.com. Nevertheless, the video is entirely fake and is made using AI. A Twitter user named DogeDesigner clarified that the video is DeepFake and warns users about not getting trapped in the scam. His post says “BREAKING: A deepfake of Elon Musk promoting a $20 million crypto giveaway is going viral. Elon Musk and his companies are NOT doing any crypto giveaways. Don’t fall for scams! Stay safe.”
Identifying a deepfake video is not an easy task but with minute notice like facial expressions, transition, abrupt changes, and pay attention to lip sync mismatch. You need to look for movements that can range from slight to more misalignments. There will be inconsistency in lighting and backgrounds. In addition, you can also notice or scrutinize background details which can help you identify the DeepFake video.
However, in the rapidly evolving digital and AI landscape, it becomes quite struggling to identify these kinds of videos. But by closely examining you can save yourself from getting trapped in the scam of these videos.
