WhatsApp is once again refining how users share their Status updates. The messaging app has started testing quick sharing shortcuts that let users post their WhatsApp Status directly to Facebook and Instagram – no extra steps, no switching apps. According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the feature has been spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS (version 25.28.10.72). It brings a small but useful tweak to how you share your updates. Currently, if you want to post your WhatsApp Status elsewhere, you have to go through a few menus. But soon, you’ll be able to tap a simple share icon and instantly cross-post to Facebook or Instagram. This feature was earlier seen in development for Android, and it looks like WhatsApp is now working to bring a similar experience to iPhone users as well. While WhatsApp is making cross-sharing simpler, it’s not forcing automation. You’ll have full control – meaning you can manually choose whether to post your Status on Facebook, Instagram, or both. Sharing on one won’t automatically send it to the other. Also Read: Instagram Wants You To Jump Right Into Reels Section? Here's Why
To use this feature, users might need to link their accounts through Meta’s Accounts Centre, a hub that connects Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp for smoother sharing.
Even with this deeper Meta integration, WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption stays intact. It must be noted that linking your accounts is optional, and you can turn it off anytime. Right now, this update is limited to beta testers on iOS via TestFlight, with a wider rollout expected over the next few weeks. So, if you often post the same update across multiple apps, this new shortcut could save you time – and a few extra taps every day.
With this beta, WhatsApp is also testing a redesigned Status interface that looks quite similar to Instagram Stories. The view count has shifted to the bottom-left corner, and you’ll now see two quick-share icons right below your update – one for Facebook and one for Instagram.
