Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is here, bringing huge jumps in CPU, GPU, AI, and camera performance. Several smartphone makers are lining up their flagship launches with this powerhouse chip. Here’s a look at the most exciting upcoming devices in India.
The chip comes with Qualcomm’s third-gen Oryon CPU clocked up to 4.6GHz. It delivers 20% faster performance and 35% better efficiency. The upgraded Adreno GPU boosts ray-traced gaming by 23%, while the Hexagon NPU offers 37% faster AI for editing, assistants, and generative tools.
Xiaomi 17 series was the first to debut Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in China. Now, it is heading to the Indian shores. Xiaomi 17 features a 6.3-inch 120Hz OLED display, Leica-tuned 50MP triple cameras, and a 7,000mAh battery. Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max models even sport a secondary rear display for added functionality.
The iQOO 15 will be the first to feature Samsung’s new 2K LEAD OLED panel, said to be 740% brighter yet more power-efficient. It also packs a 7,000mAh battery with 100W wired and wireless charging, RGB lighting, and a dedicated Q3 gaming chip for top-tier performance.
OnePlus 15 is coming up as an ultra-premium flagship with 1.15mm ultra-thin bezels and a 165Hz flat display. It’s expected to carry up to 16GB RAM and a 7,000mAh battery. Camera setup will include a 50MP main sensor, periscope, and ultrawide.
Realme has confirmed the GT 8 Pro as India’s first Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone. It sports a 2K AMOLED panel with 144Hz refresh rate and up to 7,000 nits brightness. The device may house a 200MP periscope telephoto camera offering 12x lossless zoom.
POCO is preparing its own Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 device, likely called the X8 Ultra. Leaks suggest a 1.5K or 2K LTPO AMOLED screen, triple 50MP cameras, and a 7,000mAh battery. It’s also tipped to support 100W wired and wireless fast charging.
Samsung, Vivo, and Oppo are also on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 roadmap. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected in early 2026, likely featuring the LEAD OLED display. Vivo and Oppo will follow with their flagship launches in the first half of 2026.
