The new Skyline is HMD's first own-branded smartphone, coming months after the company's announcement that it will also sell feature and smart phones under its own brand, while continuing with the Nokia-branded phones.
Although the HMD Skyline does not bear the Nokia name, it is a major throwback to the Nokia N9, one of the iconic Nokia smartphones that were popular in the early 00s.
The new HMD Skyline is claimed to come with Gen 2 repairability, which the company says will let you replace a cracked display or a dead battery in less than 10 minutes. The concept is similar to that of the recently launched Nothing CMF Phone 1, but for repairs instead of aesthetics.
You get a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz on the new HMD Skyline. The display has a punch-hole design, carrying a 50MP camera for selfies and video calls.
Powering the HMD Skyline is an octa-core Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, featuring up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. You can also expand the storage by up to 512GB through a microSD card.
HMD has equipped the Skyline with a 108MP main OIS camera, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom. HMD Skyline comes with AI-powered features such as AI Capture Fusion that takes detailed photos.
The new Skyline has a 4600mAh battery with 33W fast-charging support and 15W magnetic Qi 2 wireless charging support. The new smartphone also has a customisable button for quick access to apps and features.
The Skyline costs $499 in the US, but it will also be available in the UK and some parts of Europe. The company has not said anything about Skyline's launch in India.
