Union Budget 2024: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Union Budget for the financial year 2024-24 in the Parliament today. In her speech, the FM made a host of announcements that focused on improving the overall Digital Public Infrastructure across sectors in the country and digitising various facets of governmental services in India. For instance, the FM said that the government will bring details of six crore farmers and their lands into the National Land registry and enable Kisan Credit Card for six crore farmers in five states across the country.

Besides these, FM Nirmala Sitharaman also shared the government’s plans of making it easier for job-seekers to find jobs and the companies to find the right talent. “A comprehensive integration of E-Shram portal with other portals will facilitate such one-stop solution.” the Finance Minister said in her speech while announcing the Union Budget 2024.

“Open architecture databases for the rapidly changing labour market, skill requirements and available job roles, and a mechanism to connect job-aspirants with potential employers and skill providers will be covered in these services,” she added in her speech in the parliament.

While the Finance Minister did not elaborate on the portals that the government plans to integrate its E-Shram portal in, the move indicates that the portal could become a one-stop-destination for both job-seekers and the companies looking for relevant talent. This integration could be particularly useful for job-seekers looking for openings in the government and public sectors.

What is e-Shram portal?

Job-seekers can also get various trainings on this portal. The portal supports 400 occupations in 30 broad occupation sectors.
