The story of Samsung and rollable phones dates back to 2021. The company has been in the news for the development of a rollable phone for four years now. And the latest rumors suggest that Samsung could introduce a rollable phone in the market by 2025. In a report published by TheElec, it has been said that Samsung could launch a rollable phone in 2025 with a monstrous 12.4-inch display.
The dimensions of Samsung’s rollable phone are a notch higher than recently released Huawei’s trifold phone. Rumors also have it that the device will use an under-display camera. As of now, it is unclear how Samsung is going to place sensors in a rollable device because that is going to be a tough nut to crack along with multiple other things. To recall, Samsung’s innovative journey started with the Fold and Flip series which already have captured a lot of eyeballs.
While we know that Samsung has a Fold and Flip and both products are successful, we can say that the appetite for capturing the market is increasing in Samsung. Leaks suggest that Samsung is not working on a trifold device along with a rollable one and both of them could see the light next year.
In the past, Samsung could be dubbed the first brand to show a prototype of a trifold phone but Huawei won the race with the recent launch. A major reason behind the prototype never seeing the light is that Samsung is trying to cut costs and make the foldable range more affordable. Nonetheless, as soon as the company drops something like a rollable or a triple-fold phone then the prices will shoot up naturally. It will be interesting to see how Samsung will tackle both innovation and pricing at the same time.
