If you’ve ever found yourself constantly signing in and out of Google accounts on your iPhone, one for work, another for personal use, then know there’s good news. Google is finally rolling out a Chrome update for iOS that will make it easier for you to switch between accounts. This will help you to escape the tiring log-in/log-out routine every time you need to jump from personal to professional tasks.
The update introduces simple account switching with strict data separation. That means your work browsing, such as tabs, history, and passwords, stays in one space, and your personal data in another. When you sign into or switch to your work (managed) account, Chrome will notify you that you’re entering a separate, organisation-managed browsing experience.
This new setup helps avoid accidental crossover between accounts, and more importantly, it keeps sensitive work data in a controlled environment. It’s especially useful for people who use the same phone for both personal and professional purposes.
It is only applicable if you have a managed enterprise account! For organisations, this update is more than just a user-friendly feature. It’s also about control and security. IT teams can decide how existing browsing data is handled when someone logs into a managed account. Plus, with Chrome Enterprise, admins get access to enhanced security reporting on both Android and iOS. That includes logging important activity and sending it to tools like the Google Admin console or third-party security platforms.
What’s another plus point here is that Chrome now supports URL filtering on iOS, letting companies block access to certain categories of websites, such as unauthorised AI tools and it will redirect users to approved resources.
When you switch to a managed account for the first time, you’ll see an onboarding screen that explains how data is kept separate and how your organisation manages it. From that point on, your work and personal Chrome experiences remain clearly divided.
