Xiaomi has recently filed a patent for trifold phone; Here are the details

Huawei, with the launch of Mate XT Ultimate, has triggered a race of trifold phone production. Just yesterday, we heard the rumors of Samsung working on a rollable and a trifold phone, now, the latest leaks suggest that Xiaomi is also working on a similar product. In a report published by 91Mobiles, it has been revealed that Xiaomi has filed a patent for their first trifold device at the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).

That’s not it, the application also suggested the design of the device to a noteworthy extent. The renders created by the source let us know that the device will be a bit more bulky as compared to the likes of Huawei’s trifold device. The leaked renders suggest that the device will have two hinges.

In the fully opened state, the device will have a tablet-inspired form and design offering a rectangular primary display. As for the cameras, Xiaomi could place three of them in a horizontal fashion with a flash module.

If we go by the renders, then the device looks smaller in width and bigger in height as compared to Huawei’s offering. As of now, there is not a lot of information regarding the smartphone available on the internet. Speculations are that we will get to know more about the same once it goes past the pre-production stage.

The trifold phone by Huawei is only available in the Chinese market. We don’t even know if the smartphone will be launched in other major markets or not. Nonetheless, we already know that the global race will be between Samsung and Xiaomi, where the former is working on a rollable phone and the latter has patented a trifold smartphone. There are chances that in the coming days, we will get to hear rumors about other smartphone producers jumping the in trifold producing race as well.
