Samsung’s foldable series is about to get a refresh, and we could soon see an announcement for the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. With the new Moto Razr 60 series, competition in the flip phone space is heating up. Samsung might be looking to answer back with a strong device.
Leaks and rumours suggest that the new Flip 7 could bring a bold new design, a bigger cover screen, and a larger battery, making it a top contender in the foldable space.
The leaked renders hint at a more boxier, bigger and bolder design which is completely different from the curvier Flip 6. The phone is expected to feature a slightly larger 6.8-inch LTPO display with 1-120Hz refresh rate and improved crease management with their new blue phosphorescent OLED material Samsung teased at MWC 2025.
The real upgrade is the new, bigger cover screen. Rumours suggest the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is getting a 4-inch cover display, which is almost identical to the 4-inch P-OLED panel on Motorola’s Razr 60 Ultra. This is great as it makes the phone more usable without flipping open the main display repeatedly, making the hinge last longer.
The early rumours suggested that Samsung could be going with an Exynos chip, but newer reports say the company is sticking with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 ‘For Galaxy’ which also powers their high end Galaxy S25 Ultra. This means we can expect faster performance and better thermal management for this flip. On the battery side, the phone is reportedly getting an upgrade to a 4,300mAh unit with support for 25W charging.
Although it’s just a 300mAh increase on paper, considering the compact form factor and the larger cover screen, this upgrade could play a major role in improving overall battery performance.

On the camera side, the Flip 7 might not see any major changes in hardware, but we can expect some improvements on the software front. The Flip 7 is rumoured to carry the same dual setup as the Flip 6, which featured a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP selfie camera. A newer, more advanced sensor or the addition of a telephoto lens would have made the package more appealing, but better computational photography and improved image processing could make up for this.
One of the biggest leaks that’s really exciting is Samsung bringing a new budget flip device, rumoured to be called the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. This device could make foldables more mainstream and accessible. It’s rumoured to reuse the Flip 6’s 6.7-inch display and keep the same cover screen, but with an Exynos 2400e chip under the hood. The naming is still in question, as some reports suggest it could be called the Z Flip 7 Xe instead of the FE. The pricing is also currently unknown, so we’ll have to wait for the official announcements from the brand.
