With OnePlus 15 making its way to India and other global markets today, rumours about the next-generation flagship have already started surfacing. A new leak claims that OnePlus’ next premium device, possibly the OnePlus 16, could feature a 240Hz refresh rate. For context, the OnePlus 15 comes with a 165Hz panel – which is a step up from OnePlus 13’s 120Hz screen. news Also Read: OnePlus 13R Price Faces Major Drop Just Ahead Of OnePlus 15 Launch In India! OnePlus 16 Leak Points to Display Upgrade

The leak comes from X user @OnePlusClub, who has shared reliable information about OnePlus devices in the past. According to the post, OnePlus aims to achieve “the perfect balance between high resolution and a 240Hz dynamic refresh rate” in future smartphones. news Also Read: OnePlus 15 India Launch Today: Expected Price, Specs, Colours, Sale Details, How To Watch Live

The OnePlus 15 moved from 120Hz to 165Hz, but that came with a compromise. Its display resolution dropped from 2K to 1.5K. The company now reportedly wants to find a way to offer both a sharper resolution and a higher refresh rate without sacrificing either.

The leak doesn’t clearly mention which model will debut the 240Hz display, but PhoneArena speculates it could be the OnePlus 16.

Does 240Hz Make Sense?

A higher refresh rate means smoother scrolling, faster touch response, and better visuals while gaming. It can make animations and transitions feel snappier too. However, the trade-off is higher battery consumption, which manufacturers often try to balance using adaptive refresh rate technology or reducing screen resolution.

The leak has sparked mixed reactions among OnePlus fans. Some users on X questioned the need for such a high refresh rate on a phone, while others felt OnePlus should focus more on improving camera performance and overall image quality.

For now, there’s no official word from OnePlus about its next flagship. With the OnePlus 15 now out, details about the company’s 2026 lineup – including the OnePlus 16 – are expected to surface in the coming months.
