After the OnePlus 15 launch in India this month, the tech giant has now officially confirmed that the OnePlus 15R and the OnePlus Pad Go 2 will launch in India on December 17. While the OnePlus 15R release date is now official, the OnePlus Pad Go 2 reads “coming soon.” However, some reports suggest that the budget tablet will join the upper mid-range OnePlus 15R.

Believing the leaks, it is suggested that both devices will be available via Amazon and the OnePlus online store. OnePlus has also revealed the colour options:

  • OnePlus 15R: Charcoal Black, Minty Green
  • OnePlus Pad Go 2: Shadow Black, Lavender Drift

OnePlus 15R: What to expect

The OnePlus 15R is widely expected to be the global rebrand of the upcoming OnePlus Ace 6T from China. The big highlight here is the chipset-OnePlus says the phone will use Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which will be officially announced on November 26. If true, this could make the 15R one of the first phones to ship with Qualcomm’s new flagship processor.

Design-wise, the phone keeps things simple with a flat frame and a rectangular camera module. OnePlus has confirmed a dual rear camera setup, with leaks pointing to a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide. While it loses the telephoto lens, the phone compensates elsewhere.

One of those areas is durability-the 15R will support IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, making it one of the most rugged phones in its segment. Storage and RAM options could go up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.1 storage, according to early reports.

Battery details remain unconfirmed in India, but if it mirrors the Ace 6T, the phone may include a massive battery with fast charging support.

OnePlus Pad Go 2: A budget tablet ahead?

Launching alongside the 15R is the OnePlus Pad Go 2, the successor to the Pad Go. OnePlus has confirmed a single rear camera and support for the new OnePlus Pad Go 2 Stylo, which should appeal to students and note-takers.

The tablet will also offer 5G connectivity, making it a more versatile option for work and entertainment compared to the original Pad Go.
