If you’re eyeing a premium iPhone this year, you’re probably torn between grabbing the iPhone 16 Pro or holding off for what’s next. While the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are undoubtedly powerful, Apple is just a couple of months away from unveiling the iPhone 17 series — and based on early information, the wait could very well be worth it.

A Bold New Design Could Finally Arrive

The design philosophy of Apple has not altered a great deal in several years. Since the introduction of the iPhone 12, the design of the general appearance, the flat sides, the same rear camera system, and minor adjustments have remained unchanged all the way to the iPhone 16 Pro. You may not notice the similarity between the iPhone 16 Pro and its predecessor, unless you glance at them closely, particularly in the dark skin titanium versions.

With the iPhone 17 Pro, that may be different. According to leaks, the phone is redesigned dramatically with a conspicuously greater camera module that could cover a larger area in the back. Got a hankering after an entirely new visual identity, something that can really be described as a step forward, the iPhone 17 Pro might give you that shiny touch that you are so much desiring.

The A19 Pro Chip Might Outrun the Competition

Although Apple A18 Pro chip in iPhone 16 Pro is superfast, it also failed to rank among the fast in terms of benchmark tests, losing to Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite in synthetic tests. Apple is also expected to release A19 Pro chip with the iPhone 17 Pro with an expectation of even better single-core or multi-core performance beyond 4,000 or even 10,000 points. Such a jump would not only smooth out the iPhone 17 Pro but also it could become the most powerful smartphone available on the market.

Telephoto Camera Gets a Major Upgrade

Improvement in cameras is a significant factor that motivates buyers to change their phones and Apple appears to be on the verge of making one. iPhone 17 Pro is rumoured to use a 48MP telephoto lens, instead of the 12MP 5x tetraprism system. It might even switch to 3.5x optical zoom but the megapixel jump might allow them to provide a lossless zoom and sharpened image quality as done by Apple with the main sensor and 2x zoom. This would be a radical improvement to the photography fans.

Bigger Memory for Multitasking

All iPhone 16 models, either Pro or not, are currently sold with 8GB of RAM. However, it is reported that the iPhone 17 Pro models are likely to go up to 12GB of RAM, which would aid heavy multitasking, future-proofing, and perhaps even some AI-powered functionality that Apple is suspected to be developing. An additional RAM is not the highlight specification but it is a significant upgrade to the power users.

Timing Is Everything — And the Clock’s Ticking

We are now just months away since the iPhone 17 series is due to be released in September. Purchasing the iPhone 16 Pro today will make it outdated practically on the next day. You will not only be deprived in significant hardware updates but your phone will also lose its resale value after the announcement of Apple iPhone 17 Pro.

You should wait instead, unless you have an urgent need to have a new phone. The next-gen iPhone is expected to bring significant advancements in terms of design, performance, camera, and memories to Apple.
