Apple is preparing for its first-ever foldable iPhone. While a little late to the party, but Apple is finally ready to take on Samsung, Google, and Vivo in the world of foldable phones. While we have gone through several leaks and rumours about the iPhone Fold so far, the launch timeline has been a matter of discussion only, without any promising leaks. Recently, JPMorgan’s analyst Samik Chatterjee suggested that Apple is now focusing more on the foldable iPhone, which could be part of the iPhone 18 lineup in September 2026, CNBC reported. The analyst suggests that the iPhone 17 series, which is all set to launch this fall, is tipped to have limited upgrades. The analyst also referred to it as a foldable iPhone 18, hinting towards the power of the iPhone 18 along with foldable capabilities. However, it is unclear whether Apple will refer it as an independent series of the Apple Fold or part of the iPhone 18 lineup. What all should we expect from the first-ever foldable iPhone by Apple? Based on the leaks and rumours, the first foldable by Apple is expected to have a book-style design, just like the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The previous leaks suggested that the iPhone Fold may get a 7.8-inch inner display while the outer one may settle with a 5.5-inch display. It is tipped to have a crease-free inner display to rival the Samsung. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 features an 8-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch outer display.
Analyst Chatterjee echoes the previous claims of the iPhone Fold’s expected price. The early claims suggested that the price may jump over $2,000. However, the latest leaks suggest that the iPhone Fold may be priced under $2,000.
