How to stop sharing Instagram stories to Facebook

Meta’s Instagram and Facebook are two of the most popular social media apps available out there. However, several Facebook users appear to have switched to Instagram given its extensive set of features. Instagram users over the past several months have been getting prompts to link their Instagram with Facebook. This feature lets you automatically share stories, posts, and reels to Facebook. Whether you like it or not, it basically connects your Instagram account with Facebook. Some prefer to use Instagram while keeping their Facebook inactive as always. How to stop Instagram from sharing stories on Facebook, unlink both apps

As always, make sure your Instagram app is updated to the latest version. If not, head to PlayStore on Android or App Store on iOS and update the app. Once updated, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open Instagram on your Android or iOS device.

Step 2: Tap on the profile in the bottom right corner.

Step 3: Tap on the Hamburger icon or three horizontal lines in the upper right corner.

Step 4: Open Settings.

Step 5: Tap on Sharing to other apps, which is located just below ‘Contact syncing’ and above ‘Data usage’.

Step 6: Now, select Facebook by tapping on it.

Step 7: You should now see all your Facebook accounts. You can change the linked Facebook account or turn off automatic sharing. To turn off automatic sharing, disable three of the options under the ‘Automatically share’ section. These options are – Your Instagram story, Your Instagram posts, and Your Instagram reels. As aforesaid, disable all three options to stop Instagram from automatically posting your content to Facebook.

Step 8: If you want to fully unlink your Facebook account with Instagram, tap on Accounts Centre on the same page.

Step 9: Tap on ‘Accounts’ and then tap on Remove under your Facebook account.

This will unlink your Instagram from Facebook.
