With the hype around the Nintendo Switch 2 buzzing in the gaming community, Microsoft has decided to jump on the bandwagon. The tech giant made some major announcements about its next-gen Xbox console. In a big reveal, Xbox President Sarah Bond unveiled fresh details about the upcoming console, which is being co-engineered in partnership with AMD. This collaboration aims to reshape the future of gaming hardware and overall player experience.

Next-Gen Xbox Details

Xbox President Sarah Bond confirmed that Microsoft is working closely with AMD to develop custom silicon for a new wave of Xbox devices. This clearly shows that Microsoft is taking the competition from Sony and Nintendo seriously, going all in on its next-gen console.

The announcements also revealed some exciting new details about the system. The upcoming console will focus heavily on higher visual fidelity and AI-enhanced gameplay. During the announcement, Xbox also emphasized cross-platform and cross-device gaming. This clearly shows that Xbox is trying to make games more accessible to play anytime and anywhere. With the collaboration with the ROG Ally, the focus on cross-platform gaming makes even more sense. This strategy also deepens Microsoft’s broader Game Pass vision and positions the next-gen Xbox as a platform, not just a product.

With so many new features and AMD on board, the excitement around the next-gen Xbox has definitely reached a new high.

Xbox Handheld in Works?

While rumours of a first-party Xbox handheld device have been circling for months, Microsoft has reportedly put those plans on hold or cancelled them entirely.

Instead, Microsoft is partnering with Asus on a new lineup of Xbox-branded ROG Ally devices. These devices have been showcased and are expected to be launched at the end of 2025 holiday season. These handhelds will support a wide range of PC games, including titles from Xbox, Steam, and come with a more optimised OS for better performance.

What’s Next?

With AMD on board, the next-generation Xbox promises more than just improved graphics. Xbox is now focussed on building a platform that defines the future of gaming. Hopefully, Xbox also delivers some strong exclusive titles like PlayStation, to build more hype and make the gaming experience better than ever.
