Samsung just launched the Galaxy Z Flip 6 at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The new Flip 6 is a minor upgrade over last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 5. It has better durability and features exclusive functionalities for Galaxy AI. However, it is more or less the same in terms of specifications. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 retains camera and display specifications except for the chipset and heat management. Both flip phones use Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with up to 120Hz refresh rate, Full-HD+ resolution, and support or HDR10+. Processor: The Flip 6 packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a significant upgrade over last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This means faster performance where it matters and better efficiency in light tasks. The Flip 6 also uses an Adreno 750 GPU, a jump from Flip 5’s Adreno 740. The new Flip 6 has 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage, while you get 8GB of RAM on the Flip 5. A higher RAM means better multitasking. Both flip phones run Android 14, but the Flip 6 supports One UI 6.1.1.
Cameras: Flip 6’s rear camera system has a 50MP main and a 12MP ultrawide sensor. This could be an important upgrade for buyers considering the Flip 5 uses 12MP sensors for both main and ultrawide cameras. There is support for 4K video recording along with HDR10+. The selfie camera has not changed, though. Both flip phones share a 10MP wide sensor with 4K video recording and HDR support.
Battery: The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a bigger 4000mAh battery compared with the 3700mAh battery on the predecessor. The charging speed, however, is still 25W for wired connection and 15W for wireless.
