Realme 14 Pro+ 5G First Impressions: A Color Changing Device with Decent Performance

Realme is known for launching mid-range as well as flagship devices in India. Even this time the company has launched its mid-range series in India with several enhancing features. The tech giant unveiled two devices in the series dubbed as vanilla Realme 14 Pro 5G and more premium Realme 14 Pro+ 5G. Both the devices look and feel similar, but there are different in terms of processor, display, and subtle differences that we can notice between them. The tech giant has launched both the devices with the mastery of the integration of advanced technologies and elegance.

Beyond the features, the Realme 14 Pro+ 5G is powerful and comes with vibrant display, powerful battery & processor powering this machine. What’s more? You also get several AI features in the device to improve user experience and the photography prowess of the phones.

Before we delve into what this smartphone has to offer, let’s take a quick look at its features and specifications:

Design & Display:

While the above table gives us a fair idea about the features that the phone offers, there’s more to the phone than these specifications. Here are our initial thoughts about the Realme 14 Pro+ 5G:

Realme has partnered with Copenhagen-based Valeur Designers for the exteriors of the Realme 14 Pro+ 5G and together they came up with the color changing technology for the back, a feature that I haven’t personally seen before. There have been smartphones with color changing technology in the past as soon as they come in contact with sunlight. To recall, we have the Realme 9 Pro+ from Realme itself that changes color when comes in contact with sunlight. However, the Realme 14 Pro+ 5G is different as it reacts to cold temperatures rather than changing while coming in contact with sunlight.

Users get Quad-Curved display in Realme 14 Pro+ 5G, the only one smartphone in the series to have said display. Ina ddition, you get Matt finish at the back of the smartphone.

Performance:

Talking about the chipset, the company has equipped Realme 14 Pro+ 5G with the newly launched Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 unveiled last year in August 2024. The chipset at this point is a fairly well-performing one which basically supports perfect gaming experience. Cherry on the top, the performance was quite smooth and fuss-free during my short time with the phone. Additionally, the newly launched processor is delivering efficient performance with low power consumption along with showcasing competency in handling applications and games.

However, Realme devices have sometimes been criticized for having bloatware which nobody likes and it happened with the Realme 14 Pro+ 5G too. The smartphone is filled with the bloatware that clutters the storage and the screen.

Camera:

Camera is another thing that captured my attention with Realme 14 Pro+ 5G having the triple camera setup which actually does the decent job at preserving colors. You would be surprise to see the phone efficiently capturing details in the indoor lightning conditions as well.

Nevertheless, clarity takes a major setback when I zoom in a little including outdoor lighting conditions as well. That said, the phone doesn’t overtly brighten the colors, which means you get a slightly subdued color palette.

Battery:

The battery capacity has seen a major update from the 5200mAh in Realme 13 Pro+ 5G to 6000mAh in Realme14 Pro+ 5G provides excellent battery life lasting full day right now. But I still have to test it with intense gaming on the phone.

Final Verdict:

Realme 14 Pro+ 5G delivers good display, good cameras, a capable chip, and 80-watt fast charging. first impression regarding this newly launched smartphone is that at this time it is promising. It has all the hallmarks of being your daily driver – Obviously the powerful chipset, the AI-packed features, and the vibrant display. But rest assured, I will be unveiling the features of the smartphone in my detailed review.
