Samsung might soon be planning to bring a new AI assistant to its phones. Thankfully, it’s not the return of Bixby, but a young new AI called Perplexity. This could be a big move, as it would be a direct rival to Google Gemini. news Also Read: Gemini Nano Banana AI Image Editor Rolls Out To Google Search And NotebookLM: Here’s What’s New

According to a report, Perplexity is already on a roll and is in talks with Motorola. They might have even secretly made a deal to integrate their AI into Moto phones. Even with Samsung, Perplexity seems to be in early discussions, where the deal could involve giving users the option to set Perplexity as the default AI assistant or having the app preloaded on Samsung devices. news Also Read: How To Create Unique Rangoli Designs For Diwali Using Gemini Nano Banana AI Tool: Check Prompt

This could mean that Perplexity might soon have one of the biggest smartphone brands on board, potentially offering tough competition to Google. news Also Read: Forget ChatGPT And Gemini Nano Banana! Microsoft Launches MAI-Image-1 - The In House Text-To-Image Tool

But, there’s always a twist in the tale. Samsung and Google have a very close partnership, which could make this deal with Perplexity a big challenge. Samsung and Google have collaborated to bring some of the most advanced AI features to phones, like Circle to Search. Google’s Gemini also powers several other AI features across Samsung’s devices.

This partnership extends to other devices as well, like Samsung watches that use Wear OS, which is tuned and custom-made for Galaxy watches. This could mean that Samsung would, any day, prioritize Google’s Gemini over any other AI assistant.

But is Perplexity actually better than Google’s Gemini? How does it stand a chance against Google?

One reason Perplexity stands out is because of its flexibility as it not only relies on its own AI model but also supports models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and others. It also launched its Android assistant with Live View and on-screen context support in early 2025, which is quite similar to Circle to Search and Google Lens functionality to some extent. Perplexity also has an app that can be used to set reminders, control device settings, make calls, and more.

While both Samsung and Perplexity have not commented on this rumour, having Perplexity could be a big win for the users as well as Perplexity.
