Google has come up with a new and strengthened search tool, and it has launched the Google app with its AI Mode in India. This is an AI-assisted innovation that is aimed at helping people find more intelligence, conversational, and visual searches, thus allowing individuals to get results that make them feel like they are talking to an expert rather than using a search box. Following a successful trial as an experimental feature through Search Labs, Google is now offering AI Mode to additional people in the nation.
Google has confirmed that AI Mode is gradually rolling out to users in India. You don’t need to sign up or opt in. And, you just ensure your Google app is updated. Once the rollout reaches your device, you’ll spot a new “AI Mode” tab either directly in the search bar or alongside your search results. This tab will activate the AI-powered interface.
Currently, the feature is limited to the English language, but the experience includes all the capabilities seen during the Labs preview phase. It’s available on both Android and iOS, making it widely accessible to smartphone users across platforms.
The model is AI Mode and is based on the recent Google multimodal AI model Gemini 2.5. This implies that it is in a position to interpret not only the text, but also pictures, voice, and even the environment. Unlike conventional keyword matching, you can speak a question aloud, upload a photo, or capture one using Google Lens and pose questions centered around something in front of you.
Suppose you see an unknown plant in your garden. Rather than having to search because one is not sure what to search, one can simply take a picture and say, What is it and how do I care it? You will receive more specific, individual answers, rather than merely matching what you wrote.
The mode combines the visual identification with real-time information, such as local results, shopping possibilities, and facts in Google Knowledge Graph to provide an ultimate and steady one-stop searches.
The AI Mode will respond to multi-part questions, i.e., the ones that normally involve more than one search to get them correct. Going on a holiday? Instead of typing five different questions such as: budget hotels in Goa, family based-friendly beaches, and best time to visit, it is possible to write something like: Help me plan a family holiday in Goa at a budget place with kid fun activities. The AI takes your search apart, retrieves the most handy material, and gives you a structured answer.
This can be because Google employs a strategy known as query fan-out. It gets your single question and breaks it down into smaller related searches and executes all of them simultaneously in the background. It produces a really detailed outline with subsequent recommendations, online links, and narrowed down answers which seem a kind of chatting with a personal assistant.
It could be comparing smartphones, solving a DIY repair issue or simply trying to get quicker decisions, it makes you smarter and more connected as AI Mode gives you more precise answers without the requirement to repeat or refine your query time and again.
Google is getting beyond simple web search with AI Mode. Identifying links isn t everything, but knowing what you are searching and realizing what you re looking into, and assisting you better solve real world problems in a more expeditious manner. Google would like to make search a conversational personalised assistant using voice, image and text input and powerful AI reasoning entirely within your app.
Overall, with the AI Mode showing every sign of increasing in the future and possibly supporting additional languages at some point in the future, it will become one of the biggest updates to Google Search in years.
