YouTube, one of the most used music and video streaming services has introduced a new feature called ‘Recap’, which is similar to Spotify’s popular ‘Wrapped’ experience. The newly launched feature allows users to quickly look at their notable video activity over the past year. Users can get hold on their favorite channels and evolving interests. Additionally, the ‘Recap’ feature provides a personalized summary of your while year video activity along with your viewing patterns that changed over time.

What is YouTube ‘Recap’ Feature?

The YouTube ‘Recap’ feature will present users up to 12 cards that will highlight the key aspects of your video activity and its consumption. The cards will cover top channels that you follow and your frequently watched topics. Not only this, the feature will also deep dive into your specific video categories.

Personality Type Videos

You will also have a personality type category that will take notes of your viewing habits, including adventurer, skill builder, creative spirit, and more. The approach of looking at your personality based video activities not only add fun but also make the session interactive. This will help viewers to understand not just what they watched, but how it reflects their broader interests.

Availability

The ‘Recap’ feature is currently rolling out in the United States however, it is expected to be available globally in coming weeks. Users can access the feature on both mobile and desktop platforms. You will see a dedicated button on the homepage or you can also see the ‘You’ tab in the user menu on the homepage.

In addition, it will also have some stats related to music, such as artists and songs. Nevertheless, it does not replace the YouTube Music Recap, which remains a separate feature for users of the YouTube Music app.

Trends Data

Alongside ‘Recap’ feature, YouTube has also shared the trend data for the year. It includes most popular creators, podcasts, songs, and topics among US users. For example, creators like MrBeast remain at the top, while The Joe Rogan Experience leads in podcast rankings. The trends also reveal interesting insights, such as the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack performing differently on Shorts compared to the general music charts.
