WhatsApp may soon alert you about the status updates of your favourite contacts. As per a report by WabetaInfo, the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.22.21 update has witnessed a new feature – a reminder notification for status updates. As per the report, the users will get an occasional reminder about the status updates of selected contacts, so that they never miss any updates. Also Read: Lost In Group Chats? The report further mentioned that the frequency of the notifications for the status updates can be customised. WabetaInfo further reported that WhatsApp will allow you to manually choose if you want to receive a notification each time a specific contact adds a new status update or not. This new update could come in handy, especially for those who use Status to stay in touch with close friends, family, or even work-related contacts. What makes this feature even more user-friendly is the control it gives you. Also Read: 7 SECRET WhatsApp Tricks To Make Messaging Faster
You’ll be able to manage these reminders directly from the Status screen. So, if you’re viewing someone’s update and want to keep a closer eye on their future posts, you can simply tap an option to start receiving alerts every time they upload something new. These real-time notifications will even include the contact’s name and profile photo, which makes it easier to identify who’s posted, without the need to open the app or scroll through the Status tab.
Don’t want to keep getting those notifications anymore? No problem. You can go back to the same place and choose the “Mute notifications” option. It’s all about giving users more flexibility and control.
The best part? Your contacts won’t know that you’ve turned on alerts for their statuses. It’s a private setting, so you can customise your experience without worrying about others being notified.
This feature is still under development and hasn’t rolled out yet, but once it’s available, it could be a simple yet effective way to stay better connected, on your own terms. And as always, we’ll keep you posted when there’s more to share.
