WhatsApp introduces new features for Status section; Here are the details

WhatsApp has been experimenting with a few features from a long time now. And the time has come as three of these features are rolling out slowly for both Android and iOS version of the application. The three new features are Status Like, Private Mentions, and Status Reshare. With this move, WhatsApp is making it clear the platform wants to make its status section more interactive as compared to what we’ve seen in the past.

WhatsApp Status new features

Status Like: The Status Like feature of WhatsApp will allow the users to send a private reaction to other users on their status. While you view status of any other individual on the platform, you will find a heart shaped button at the bottom right that you can press to share reaction on a particular status. As of now, the WhatsApp Status Like feature has no like counter which means no one else will be able to see the number of like on a particular status.

Private Mentions: As the name suggests, now the WhatsApp users will be able to mention their contacts privately in a status. All the mentioned contacts in a status will receive a notification for the update. Like the first one, the mention will be hidden from the contact list of the users and that seems necessary to maintain the privacy of the mentioned individuals.

Status Reshare: This feature will allow the users to share someone else’s status on WhatsApp without revealing their identity. This will help them share the content with their own audience without hampering the privacy of the status creator.

At the time of writing this article, multiple users in India have already got the Status like feature on both Android and iOS devices. And there is no need to worry if you are unable to see the changes as the features are being rolled out currently and you will get them in a week or so.
