Lava has expanded its budget smartphone lineup in India with the launch of Lava Storm Play and Lava Storm Lite. These new additions under the Storm series are designed for budget-conscious users looking for solid features at an affordable price. The Storm Play features a 6.75-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This is great as 120Hz adds a better experience when scrolling through your favourite social media apps. The phone also gets an IP64 rating, making it resistant to dust and light splashes.
Under the hood, the Storm Play is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 processor. This is paired with 6GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage. This ensures better performance for multitasking and daily apps.
The device features a 50MP main rear camera using Sony’s IMX752 sensor, accompanied by a 2MP secondary lens. On the front, it has an 8MP selfie camera, suitable for video calls and decent selfies.
The Lava Storm Play packs a 5000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging via a USB Type-C port. It runs on Android 15 out of the box, and Lava has promised 1 Android version upgrade and 2 years of security updates.
Just like its sibling, the Storm Lite also comes with a 6.75-inch HD+ notch display and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also carries the IP64 rating for added durability.
The Storm Lite is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor, with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. This offers a capable setup for entry-level users and can easily help in day to day tasks.
On the camera front, this phone features the same 50MP Sony IMX752 rear camera, but the front camera gets trimmed to a 5MP selfie lens.
Just like the Storm Play, the Storm Lite includes a 5000mAh battery. It supports 15W charging and also runs on Android 15 with the same update promise of 1 major Android upgrade and 2 years of security patches.
The Lava Storm Play is priced at Rs 9,999 and will be available exclusively on Amazon starting June 19, 2025. On the other hand, the more affordable Lava Storm Lite is priced at Rs 7,999, and will go on sale from June 24, 2025, also via Amazon.
