  • Apex Legends Mobile will sunset on May 1, 2023.

Electronic Arts (EA) and Respawn Entertainment have announced that they will be shutting down Apex Legends Mobile less than year since its launch. In a tweet, Apex Legends Mobile developer, Respawn Entertainment said that it will be sun-setting Apex Legends Mobile on Android and iOS on May 1.

The company said that the game will shut down at 4PM PDT on May 1, 2023, or 5:30AM IST on May 2, 2023, post which gamers will not be able to play it on their Android smartphones or iPhones.

“Following a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence. It is for this reason, after months of working with our development partner, that we have made the mutual decision to sunset our mobile game,” Respawn Entertainment wrote in a blog post.

What happens now?

Detailing the change, the company said that it is giving players a 90-day window before it shuts down the Apex Legends Mobile servers for good. The 90-day window started on January 31. Furthermore, the company said that it has already started disabling all real-money in-app purchases in the game and that it will soon be removing the game from the webstores, that is, Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

Respawn Entertainment also said that during the 90-day-window, players can spend their existing Syndicate Gold and continue playing the full game. “You’ll be able to enjoy all previously purchased and unlocked in-game content throughout the ninety (90) day sunset period as well,” the company added in the FAQ section of the blog post.

The company also said that it will not be providing refunds for real money purchases in the game.
