Artificial Intelligence has not just emerged as one of the most powerful tools of our time but it has also increased danger and threat that continues to grow rapidly. In emerging news from the United States, Donald Trump, the US President, shared a striking AI-generated video targeting former President Barack Obama. The video garnered attention from millions of users on X (formerly Twitter).

U.S. President Donald Trump Shared AI Video of Barack Obama:

On Monday, Trump posted a controversial video on his social platform, Truth Social. The video showcases former US president Barack Obama is getting arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) inside the Oval Office. The clip starts where Obama is saying ‘especially the President is above the law.’ Then the video cuts to various other American as well as other political figures stating ‘no one is above the law’

Then the video takes a dramatic turn. In a digitally manipulated scene, AI-generated FBI agents handcuff Obama in the very office he once led as President, while Trump watches from a nearby chair, smiling.

The video doesn’t stop here and hence it continues even with more jarring images including Barack Obama in an orange prison jumpsuit sitting behind bars. Additionally, the post doesn’t have any disclaimer or any sentences that clarifies that it was fictional or AI-generated. That omission drew heavy backlash. Critics called Trump’s decision to share the video “deeply irresponsible,” warning that it could mislead millions and stir up political tension at an already volatile time.

Why Trump Shares AI-Generated Video of Barack Obama:

This is a surprising step as Trump just recently accused Obama of masterminding so-called high-level election fraud only a few weeks ago. The accusations and the video seem to be the part of the bigger scheme of political smear that is getting more frequent as the time of a further election cycle approaches.

Pouring fuel on the flames, the former Democratic congresswoman and the current Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard threw bombshell accusations against the former Obama administration not too long ago. She disclosed that she has what she termed as striking and overwhelming evidence that former Obama officials might have lied/created parts of Trump-Russia collusion theory after the 2016 election. As stated by Gabbard, redacted emails, which are 114 pages in the number, point at the possibility that the intelligence was manipulated to form the impression that Russia favored the candidacy of Trump. Gabbard has demanded that charges should be taken against the involved.

The video prompted instant response as it went around social media. As some users were outraged, and others wondered whether such an arrest can be forthcoming, many were arguing about the legal and ethical aspects of a president posting such content that had been digitally manipulated. The absence of a disclaimer further contributed to the misunderstanding and made it clear that an issue with the extent to which deepfake content can mislead the masses is growing.
