Spotify has refreshed its subscription plans in India with a new tier structure and updated pricing. The biggest change is the addition of lossless audio streaming, which is now available under a new top-end plan. The update also raises the cost of several features that were previously part of Spotify’s regular Premium tier. Also Read: You Can Now Share Spotify Songs Directly To WhatsApp Status: Here’s How
The new plan structure begins with Premium Lite, priced at Rs 139 per month. It offers ad-free music but limits audio to 160kbps and does not support offline downloads. Until now, Spotify’s base Rs 139 plan included offline listening, so users will need to move to a higher tier for that feature. Next is Premium Standard at Rs 199, which brings back offline downloads and bumps the quality to 320kbps. This is effectively the new version of Spotify’s old Individual plan, but at a higher monthly price. Also Read: Spotify Hikes Premium Subscription Prices In India: Here's What You’ll Now Pay
The Student plan has also gone up to Rs 99 per month, compared to the earlier Rs 69.
The new Premium Platinum tier is priced at Rs 299. This is the first time lossless audio is being offered to Spotify users in India. The plan also includes the platform’s AI DJ feature for curated playlists and commentary, along with new AI-based playlist creation tools. Spotify says this tier also works with DJ software like rekordbox and Serato.
Premium Platinum supports up to two additional household members, giving each user a separate account. Spotify’s earlier Family plan supported up to six accounts at Rs 229, but it did not include lossless audio or the newly added AI features.
The revised Premium structure is being rolled out to new users in India and a few other markets, including Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the UAE. Existing subscribers can continue on their current plan unless they choose to switch.
Spotify had increased its prices earlier this year, and the new plans bring another round of changes as the platform pushes more advanced features behind higher-priced tiers.
