Meta's next generation of smart glasses may have just been revealed a little earlier than planned. A leaked teaser video, briefly posted on Meta's official YouTube channel, has seemingly confirmed the existence of the Meta Ray-Ban Display, a pair of smart glasses with a built-in heads-up display (HUD). The official announcement is expected at the Meta Connect 2025 event, which kicks off on September 17. Also Read: Is Mark Zuckerberg building an AI version of himself to run Meta?

A Heads-Up Display in Classic Ray-Ban Style

According to a report by UploadVR, the leaked video showed the new glasses sporting a familiar Ray-Ban Wayfarer-inspired design, complete with a black frame and clear lenses. What sets them apart from the previous Ray-Ban Meta models is the small display that appears at the bottom of the right lens. The HUD will likely let users view essential information like navigation maps, chat previews, and contextual details about objects in their environment. Also Read: Meta will pay creators up to Rs 2.7 lakh to post on Facebook; Here's why

Gesture Control With sEMG Wristband

The leaked clip also hinted at how users will interact with the glasses. Instead of relying solely on voice or touch, the Meta Ray-Ban Display is expected to pair with a new sEMG wristband. This device detects muscle signals from the wrist and translates them into commands. In the video, one user was shown swiping their fingers in the air to reply to a message suggesting that simple hand gestures could be used to control the interface.

More Than One Pair of Smart Glasses

Interestingly, the teaser didn't stop there. It also showed what appears to be the long-rumored Oakley Meta Sphaera, a pair of smart glasses designed with athletes in mind. Unlike the Ray-Ban models, these sport a camera placed in the centre, likely to offer a first-person perspective for activities like cycling.

Meta Connect 2025: Date and Time

Meta is expected to officially unveil both products during Meta Connect 2025, scheduled for September 17-18. The event will begin with CEO Mark Zuckerberg's keynote at 5 p.m. PT (5:30 a.m. IST), where the company will likely share full specifications, pricing, and availability details.
