Chandrayaan-3 takes off

India’s third unmanned lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, took off from the Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM-3) from the second launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 2.35PM on July 14.

Chandrayaan-3 enters lunar orbit

Chandrayaan-3 was successfully inserted into the lunar orbit on August 5. “A retro-burning at the Perilune was commanded from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX), ISTRAC, Bengaluru,” ISRO said at the time.

Chandrayaan-3 begins PL separates from LM

Chandrayaan-3 includes three parts – Propulsion Module, Lander Module or Vikram Lander and Rover Module or Pragyan Module. Chandrayaan-3 began manoeuvres to separate the Propulsion Module from the Lander Module on August 17.

ISRO shared the first images and videos captured by the sensors on-board Vikram Lander on August 18. The images were captured by the Lander Position Detection Camera (LPDC) on August 15, 2023.

ISRO gears for Chandrayaan-3 landing

ISRO gears for Chandrayaan-3 landing on the moon. At 12:52PM, ISRO said that it is set to initiate the Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS). ISRO also said that the Lander Module will reach the designated spot for landing on the south pole of the moon at around 17:44 IST on August 23.
