After years of rumours, Apple is finally expected to launch its first foldable iPhone this September. Reports suggest it could be called the iPhone Ultra and launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
The iPhone Ultra is expected to start at over $2,000 (around Rs 1.9 lakh). If true, it would become the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever launched.
Apple is expected to take on Samsung's foldable lineup directly. The iPhone Ultra is likely to compete with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is currently priced at around $1,900, positioning Apple's foldable as an even more premium option.
Instead of paying the full amount upfront, buyers in the US may be able to get the iPhone Ultra through Apple's new Apple Upgrade programme. Reports suggest monthly payments could be around $60–70.
Apple hasn't officially confirmed the foldable iPhone yet, but multiple reports suggest it could debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series during Apple's September launch event.
Despite the premium pricing, market research reports suggest Apple's foldable iPhone could capture up to 25 percent of global foldable smartphone shipments soon after launch, highlighting the demand for an Apple foldable.
Multiple reports suggest Apple will unveil the iPhone Ultra during its September event alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple has not officially confirmed the launch yet.
Samsung has dominated the foldable segment for years, but Apple's entry could bring more competition and push foldable phones into the mainstream. The iPhone Ultra may become one of the biggest smartphone launches of the year.
