While most people are familiar with GPay's UPI features, the app also offers credit card-based payments. Here is how to use it.

Google Pay app on Android and iOS

GPay is one of the leading apps for UPI payments, but it also supports payments through credit and debit cards. The credit card payment facility is supported on both Android and iPhone, so open the app to start making payments through credit cards.

The next step

Now, tap the profile picture in the top right corner of the app where you will see several options related to your account. Find the "Pay with credit or debit cards" option to initiate the process.

Add your cards

In the next step, tap the "Add" option next to the "Pay with credit or debit cards" option. GPay will show the features of the facility on the next screen. Tap the "Add card" option.

Scan your card

GPay will now open a card scanner using your phone's camera. Point the camera at a credit card to allow GPay to quickly scan your card and fetch the details. You can alternatively choose to enter card details manually.

Continue with the process

The next step involves accepting the terms and conditions of Google Pay. After your details are saved, tap the "More" option to accept to proceed.

Verification by GPay

In the next step, GPay will need to verify your identity. You can choose to receive an SMS or a call for verification. Tap Continue to receive a one-time password (OTP).

Credit card now saved

After successful verification, GPay will now show your credit card as an eligible payment option when you want to make payments.

Use anywhere

Apart from online payments for utility bills and mobile recharges, credit cards on GPay can be used for offline payments at partner merchants.
