Xiaomi is all set to unveil its flagship Xiaomi 17 series later this month in China, and the company has already begun teasing some of its standout design features. After officially confirming the launch yesterday, Xiaomi today revealed the first look at the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, showcasing a bold new design with a functional secondary display on the back. Secondary Display and Camera Design

In a major shift from previous generations, the entire rear camera housing of the Pro models has been replaced with a secondary screen. This rear display is expected to support notifications, time display, multitasking, AI-driven interactions, and cross-device functions, making it far more versatile than the small rear screen once seen on the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. The rear design also continues Xiaomi's partnership with Leica, as seen from the branding. The camera system features a triple-lens setup, with two large sensors stacked vertically and a smaller third lens positioned beside the LED flash. Specs and Variants

As confirmed by Xiaomi, the Xiaomi 17 Pro will serve as a compact flagship with a 6.3-inch AMOLED display, 1.5K resolution, 1 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a 6,300mAh battery supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The top-end Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is expected to arrive with a 6.8-inch 2K display, boasting a 94% screen-to-body ratio, paired with a large 7,500mAh battery.

All three models in the lineup the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max are set to run on Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

Launch Timeline and Competition

According to reports, the Xiaomi 17 series will officially launch on September 26 in China. Once it arrives, it will go head-to-head with other upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered flagships, including the Honor Magic 8 series, OnePlus 15, iQOO 15, and Realme GT 8 Pro, all of which are lined up for October releases.
