Highlights
- HMD 110 and HMD 105 are the latest feature phones in India.
- They are the company's first HMD-branded phones, ditching the Nokia brand.
- The HMD 110 and HMD 105, however, lack common features such as 4G connectivity.
HMD Global, the caretaker of the Nokia brand, decided to use its name on select phones last year. And at least two HMD-branded feature phones are arriving in India soon. The company has listed the brand-new HMD 110 and HMD 105 on its website without their prices, indicating their impending release in India. The new feature phones from HMD Global sport funky colours and specifications to help you with a digital detox. They will also appeal to customers who are not fans of smartphones, but like to access internet-enabled services occasionally. However, there is support for only 2G networks.
HMD 110
The new HMD 110 is similar to the Nokia-branded feature phone but slightly steers away from the design. It has a gradient rear panel with a ceramic coating and a metal trim, offering sturdiness to the phone. Nokia phones have been known for their durability, so maybe HMD hopes to emulate that experience for users. The HMD 110 also has an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance. Available in green and black colours, the HMD 110 is 14mm thick and weighs 78g.
HMD's new feature phone has a 2-inch QQVGA display, which obviously is non-touchscreen. It has a T9 keyboard and uses a 1000mAh battery for an 18-day-long battery backup. The company claims a 14-hour talk time on a single charge. It runs RTOS paired with 4MB of RAM and 4MB of internal storage, which could not sit well with some customers. Most feature phones have bigger internal storage. That being said, the HMD 110 supports expandable storage of up to 1TB through a microSD card. The HMD 110 also has a QVGA rear camera, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
HMD 105
Featuring support for dual SIM cards, the HMD 105 has a 2-inch QQVGA screen and a QVGA rear camera. The phone has a 1000mAh battery that should last more than a week. It has a "large and tactile" T9 keypad and dual-LED flashlight on the back. The HMD 105 supports an FM radio, an MP3 player, and the iconic Snake game. The HMD 105 comes in charcoal, blue, and purple colours.
