The first foldable iPhone by Apple has been the matter of discussion, leaks and rumours. Several past reports have hinted towards its possible launch in 2026, while the hint of its production has rarely been spotted. As per a report by Nikkei Asis, Apple has finally held discussions with suppliers to begin the production of the first foldable iPhones in Taiwan. Not only that, the report has suggested that the mass production of the foldable iPhone may soon happen in India to be released in 2026.
A little late to the foldable smartphone party, Apple is expected to compete with Samsung's prominence in the foldable smartphone market, which has some other key tech giants such as Google Pixel, Motorola and Vivo. The report further suggested that it has a target to produce around 95 million phones for the next lineup of 2026, which will be an increase of 10 per cent increase from the previous year.
"The talks aim to tap the engineering resources and ecosystem of Apple suppliers in Taiwan to build a mini pilot line for equipment testing and fine-tuning the parameters and manufacturing steps for making a foldable iPhone," the report mentioned.
Apple's Foldable iPhone: What To Expect
The Foldable iPhone is tipped to have a book-like folding design just like Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series. Based on the leaks, it may have four cameras with a dual camera setup at the back, an internal sensor and a front-facing camera. Talking about the display, it may feature a 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.8-inch foldable display. Price? The first foldable iPhone could be priced around $2,000.

Based on the previous reports and leaks, Apple's foldable iPhone is expected to be launched in 2026. If the rumours turn out to be true, the foldable iPhone is expected to launch along with the iPhone 18 series in the fall of 2026.
