You may still be getting WhatsApp notifications on your Apple Watch, but it's about to get an upgrade with a companion app. It will allow you to read messages, reply and even send reactions for the WhatsApp messages directly from your wrist, without the need for your iPhone all the time. As per a report by WabetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp update tracker, the instant messaging platform has released the WhatsApp beta 25.32.10.71 for iOS, which makes the app available for some beta testers. It is available through the TestFlight program. Well, the app is still in its testing phase, but expected to be available to more devices in the coming weeks. Apple Watch App For WhatsApp: What Will It Do

Once the app is installed, the Apple Watch automatically connects to WhatsApp on your iPhone; there's no QR code scanning required. An indicator in the top-left corner of the watch screen shows whether your WhatsApp is syncing, connected, or offline. Once linked, users can scroll through recent chats, check pinned messages, and even view disappearing chats - all neatly arranged, just like on the phone app.

It must be noted that this is still a companion app, not a standalone one. So, your iPhone needs to stay connected for WhatsApp to work on your Apple Watch. You won't be able to leave your phone at home and use WhatsApp independently on your wrist - at least not yet.

What else? The report suggests that you'll now be able to read full messages, react with emojis, or send preset quick replies right from the notification itself. You can even dictate messages or send voice notes, making it far more practical during workouts or while on the go.

This will be a big update once rolled out for all the users, as so far, Apple Watch users were stuck with only basic WhatsApp notifications, unlike other messaging apps that had proper watchOS support. This companion app changes that.

Even though it's not fully standalone yet, it finally lets users stay connected, check messages, and reply instantly - without constantly reaching for their phones. For now, it's a beta release, but as WhatsApp expands testing to more users in the coming weeks.
